This map depicts Real Time and Day Ahead LMP Contours
across the SPP Energy Imbalance Service market region. Blue represents lower market prices,
and red/orange represents higher prices. Multiple colors indicate congestion. Congestion or "bottlenecks" happen when the transmission system cannot deliver
least-cost energy to customers, which may be caused by lack of transmission lines, heavy use of specific grid segments, unplanned situations such as storms, or by the preferred energy source being located far away from customers. For instance,
if blue is shown in the north and red to the south, there is difficulty moving energy from
north to south due to congestion. If the map is a single color, there is no grid congestion at the current time.
