The current non-market approach could be ineffective. The current approach is reliable, but can be inefficient.
  • The curtailment tool in use now, TLR, is based on service priorities, not on market value.
  • Imbalances between electricity generators and buyers are not valued or compensated.
  • Prices are not readily apparent during peak demand times. The cost of doing business when the grid is congested is higher than it could be.
