Southwest Power Pool's Operations Training courses are designed to provide system operations personnel information relevant to the reliable operation of the bulk electric system with a focus on SPP specific issues, practices, and procedures. This site provides descriptions of each course offered as well as a means of registering for these courses.
If an organization is a member of Southwest Power Pool, Inc. they may participate in the 2010 regional training events at no additional cost. Non-members wishing to participate in SPP training events will be charged the fee associated with a particular event.
Course Fees for Non-Members
- Regional EOPS Net Conferences - $90/person
- Regional EOPS Training - $940/person
- System Operations Conferences - $1320/person
- Regional Restoration Drills - $840/entity
- Sub-regional Restoration Drills - $560/entity
- OTWG/SPP Train-the-Trainer - $840/person
NERC requires personnel responsible for the operation of the electrical grid to obtain 32 hours of emergency operations training annually and, in addition, to maintain their Operator NERC certification.
Credential Maintenance Requirements for NERC-Certified Operations Personnel NERC requires the following NERC-approved Continuing Education (CE) hours over a three-year period.
RC (Reliability Coordination): 200 hours over 3-year recertification period BI (Balancing and Interchange): 140 hours over 3-year recertification period TO (Transmission Operator): 140 hours over 3-year recertification period BI&TO (combination): 160 hours over 3-year recertification period
For each of these re-certification requirements, 30 of the CE hours must be in NERC Standards and 30 must be in simulations.
