A Beginner's Guide: RTO Western Expansion

Event Description

This four-hour, virtual-instructor-led session will introduce new members to SPP’s role as an RTO, a Reliability Coordinator, a consolidated Balancing Authority, and Market Operator. During the session, the SPP Stakeholder Training team will introduce such items as:

• What is an RTO?
• What will the SPP RTO footprint look like?
• What is the RC’s role?
• What is the impact of Balancing Authority consolidation?
• What are the key components of the Integrated Marketplace?
• How will SPP and CAISO manage Seams coordination?

NOTE: This session is a high-level, conceptual introduction to RTO participation and will not provide in-depth details, as some aspects of the RTO Western Expansion project are still under development and some details are not know at this time. SPP Stakeholder Training will offer additional training sessions that provide greater detail at a later time.
