SPP RE Dissolution & Transition

In July 2017, the SPP, Inc. Members Committee and SPP, Inc. board of directors voted to dissolve the SPP Regional Entity under a mutual agreement with NERC. The SPP RE trustees endorsed the decision. Because the SPP RE and RTO footprints have and may continue to significantly diverge, SPP, Inc. made the strategic decision to transition out of its Regional Entity duties and focus on its core functions of reliability coordination, markets and transmission planning.

SPP, both RE and RTO, are working closely with NERC and FERC to facilitate a smooth transition for each of SPP RE’s 120 Registered Entities to another Regional Entity. SPP RE will continue to function until a successful transition is completed, which should occur no later than Dec. 31, 2018.

SPP RE continues to be the compliance and enforcement authority for our current registered entities. We will continue in that function until the transition is approved by NERC and FERC.

Documents related to the transition are posted in the RE Dissolution and Transition folder.
