Seth Mayfield named director of markets development
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is pleased to announce the promotion of Seth Mayfield as director of markets development, effective November 3.
“I’m excited for Seth to step into this important role,” said Carrie Simpson, SPP vice president for markets. “He brings strategic leadership and a deep knowledge of market design and operations, capabilities that will help SPP continue to advance its markets services.”
In his new position, Mayfield will direct the development, systems support and analysis of market functions of the day-ahead market, real-time energy market, and operating reserve market. Mayfield will also be responsible for tactical implementation of corporate initiatives applicable to SPP’s markets efforts.
“I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such talented colleagues and stakeholders to help shape the next chapter of market evolution across the region,” Mayfield said.
Mayfield has served SPP in multiple capacities since 2013, most recently as market design manager after joining SPP as a modeling engineer. Mayfield has broad industry experience, having previously worked in engineering at Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). Mayfield received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
