Value and Affordability Task Force
Value and Affordability Task Force
The Value and Affordability Task Force was formed in January 2019 and is a group that reports directly to the SPP board of directors. Over the course of the past few years, SPP has experienced increasing commentary regarding what is generally characterized as the ‘cost of SPP.’ In the 2018 round of the strategic plan review, the issue of affordability was elevated to a high priority. While much of the focus has been on SPP’s administrative costs, there are two other meaningful and interrelated issues: actual cost recovery of transmission investments and the ongoing benefit being delivered resulting from investment in transmission infrastructure and in SPP’s operation. These topics have been discussed by nearly all of the committees reporting to the board over the last six months. This task force has been formed to comprehensively tackle the complex subject. Meetings of this group will not be open to the public due to the potential for sensitive information being shared. Each member company, however, may send a single representative. Beginning with the March 5, 2019, meeting, registration will be required.
